Philadelphia’s elite cause-driven gala, Party with a Purpose, has selected the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) as the beneficiary for its 17th annual Party with a Purpose. Funds raised at this year's event will be dedicated to prostate cancer research.

AACR Foundation/Party with a Purpose Scientific Achievement Award Dedicated to Prostate Cancer Research
Karen E. Knudsen, PhD
Dr. Knudsen is the Enterprise Director of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC) at Thomas Jefferson University. An expert in the molecular basis of hormone-dependent cancer development and progression, Dr. Knudsen is focused on developing new means to prevent or treat lethal prostate cancers. Dr. Knudsen will, in turn, award a grant to a deserving young scientist who is dedicated to researching prostate cancer.

Mr. Dougherty has made International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 98 one of the most respected local unions in the country. His success as a labor leader in Philadelphia has led to many prestigious city and state board appointments. Under Mr. Dougherty’s guidance, Local 98 has supported many charities over the past 25 years.
